TITLE: Cultivation Technician

DEPARTMENT: Cultivation

REPORTS TO: Cultivation Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Somerset, New Jersey

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cultivation Technician is responsible for the production, maintenance and health of all cannabis plants in all stages of growth. This position is responsible for plant quality, irrigation, maintenance, fertigation, propagation, integrated pest management and harvesting per the guidance of the Cultivation Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Cultivation Technician position requires intermittent physical activity of lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, squatting, crouching, and kneeling. Must be able to stand up to 8 hours per day, walk up to 4 hours per day, possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be 21 years of age or older. Required to have a current New Jersey Cannabis Business Identification Card while working.

Must be detail oriented and able to adapt to changing environments and priorities. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work productively and meet expectations in a timely fashion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBIITIES:

• Perform task assigned by the Cultivation Manager related to the care and maintenance of the plants.
• Ability to assist in Integrated Pest Management tasks
• Monitor the crop progress to ensure excellent quality.
• Provide daily care of irrigation, propagation, fertilization, pest control and harvesting of assigned plants.
• Perform pruning, transplanting and daily care of mother plants.
• Maintain records of plant care activities.
• Perform daily cleaning of facility and equipment.
• Ensure equipment is maintained for proper performance.
• Manage and troubleshoot environmental controls, lighting, and irrigation systems.
• Remove excess plant material, water and trash from all areas.
• Follow all local and state compliance requirements.

SKILLS:

• Skilled at verbal and written communication.
• Skilled at basic math.
• Skilled at critical thinking and problem solving.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of basic horticulture and agriculture best practices as it pertains to the cannabis industry.
• Knowledge of the minimal operational functions of all required facility equipment but not limited to: HVAC, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, environmental control systems, fertigation systems, basic electrical and plumbing.

ABILITIES:

• Able to work in a team environment and work effectively with other departments to accomplish goals.

OTHER:

• All other duties as assigned.

• Weekend availability

Pay: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Rotating weekends
• Weekends as needed
